Takekaze Katana

This katana was made after the inspiration of one of my kenjutsu students for the practice of tameshigiri. The steel is W2 with a very active hamon from water quenching. Nagasa is 27.5 inches. Copper habaki as well as copper fuchi, kashira and menuki. The fittings were worked with a hammer and punches to create a bamboo leaves motive. The saya is lacquered and accented with gold gilding following the bamboo theme. The sword was named TAKE KAZE and those two characters were also gold gilded in the saya.
